CBCG: Banks’ liquid assets €1.49 billion 

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Compared with November 2025, the average liquid assets of Montenegrin banks increased by 2.64 percent to €1.49 billion at the end of last year.

 

According to the statistics released by the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the average liquid assets decreased by 10.32 percent year on year in December 2025.

 

The liquidity index of the banking system was above the required minimum in this period. 

 

At the end of December, the combined balance of all banks amounted to €7.91 billion, 2.48 percent more than in November, and 9.05 percent more than in the same period in 2024. 

 

In the overall structure of banks’ assets, the highest share was that of loans at 65.34 percent, securities at 18.27 percent, and cash and deposits with central banks at 13.04 percent, while other categories of assets accounted for 3.35 percent.

 

In the overall structure of liabilities, deposits had the highest share of 76.8 percent, followed by capital and loans at 12.96 percent and 5.91 percent, respectively. Other categories of liabilities accounted for the remaining 4.33 percent.

 

At the end of December, total bank capital amounted to €1.03 billion, up 1.88 percent from November and 15.06 percent year on year.
